How do I find the right shoe...?

To make choosing the right shoe easier, Meindl has divided its collections into categories A to D. You can find out what each category means here:

Important! These rules always apply:

When in doubt, the stiffer boot is certainly the better choice, as it offers more possibilities.
If you frequently travel in wet regions or have no opportunity to dry a wet boot overnight during your tours, you should choose a model with GORE-TEX® lining.

How do I find my correct size...?

Unless otherwise stated, our shoes are listed in English (UK) sizes. Converting sizes can often cause confusion, so we would like to help you find the right size with our size chart. If in doubt, we are happy to advise you.
Please also do not fixate too strongly on a particular size. Especially when changing models or manufacturers, deviations can quickly occur. Your feet also change over time, becoming wider and longer as the arch reduces.

* Please note: The measurement in cm shown in the table refers to the approximate inner measurement (length of the insole) of the shoe, except for winter boots, see link Winter Boots.

How to measure correctly (see image below):

When measuring, it is recommended to already wear the socks you intend to use inside the shoe or boot. Stand on a sheet of paper, ideally in the afternoon or evening (when your foot is at its largest), and mark the tip of your toes (1) and the heel (2) with a pencil held vertically. Then measure the length of your foot. To this measurement (3), add 1 cm to 1.5 cm (finger test). This space should be present at the front of a mountain or trekking boot as a minimum; for lighter shoes such as Nordic walking shoes, 1 cm to 1.2 cm may also be sufficient.
For safety shoes, a minimum of 1.2 cm to 1.5 cm is recommended.

Then compare this value with our table. The size shown for your measurement (foot length plus allowance of 1 cm to 1.5 cm) is the recommended size for your shoe choice. In borderline cases, or if you occasionally wear thicker socks, always choose half a size larger. Shoes are often bought too small. In terms of width, a shoe can be stretched slightly or will adapt during the break-in period. However, it cannot be lengthened.

Here is an example of size selection for a trekking boot:

Your foot length + space at the front (at least 1 cm) = 28.7 cm = UK 9.5 (recommended size)

Note for children's shoes:

For children's shoes, add approximately 1.2 cm to 1.5 cm to the foot measurement to determine the correct size in the table above. For the children's boot model Meindl POLAR FOX Junior, no addition is necessary, as this model runs slightly larger than standard Meindl children's shoes at the same size, leaving room for thicker socks.

Note for winter boots:

In winter boots especially, it is important to have sufficient room and toe clearance. Boots that are too tight will cause cold feet quickly.

For winter boots with sheepskin lining such as Meindl GARMISCH PRO GTX®, GARMISCH LADY PRO GTX®, Meindl CORVARA and Meindl CORVARA LADY, add approximately 1.5 cm to your foot measurement to determine the correct size in the table above, or select your size according to the examples below.

Examples:
UK size 8 in the table above corresponds to size 42 for the models Meindl GARMISCH PRO GTX® / GARMISCH LADY PRO GTX®, and likewise to UK size 8 for the model Meindl CORVARA / Meindl CORVARA LADY. This means you may only need to go slightly larger with these two models to have a little more room for thicker socks.

For the winter trekking boot Meindl ANTARKTIS GTX® with Thinsulate® lining, going half a size larger than your normal trekking boot size is usually sufficient to allow a little more toe room for thicker socks.

For the models Meindl NORDKAP PRO GTX® and Meindl KITZBÜHEL, first determine your size as you would for trekking boots (see "How to measure correctly" above). Then choose exactly one full size larger to compensate for the construction-related difference and to allow room for thicker socks.
For example: If you wear UK 9.5 in a Meindl trekking boot, choose UK 10.5 for the Meindl NORDKAP PRO GTX® and Meindl KITZBÜHEL.

Note for sock size selection:

To determine your sock size, follow the same procedure but without adding any allowance, and compare your foot length directly with the table above.
